Beach House

About the project

An HIA-Award winning second-generation rebuild of a beach home, featuring a post and beam pavilion.

This project represents the second-generation build for Beach Houses Australia (BHA), following the original construction completed in the early 2000s by Hicks Paine Builders, with Tom Hicks—now a director at BHA—deeply involved in its design. After years of enduring the harsh coastal environment, the original home required a complete rebuild designed for durability, longevity, and low maintenance. The new structure incorporates cutting-edge materials and systems, including a 40-year aluminium standing seam roof warranty, 316 stainless steel detailing, and a five-coat Dulux paint system, all of which contribute to exceptional resilience and lasting beauty.

BHA elevated the project further with advanced home automation, solar energy integration, and an efficient rainwater harvesting system—ensuring both comfort and sustainability. Initially planned for a 24-month timeline, the build was impressively completed in just 14 months through precise coordination and commitment. The result exceeded expectations, leading the owners to make the property their full-time residence instead of a holiday home. The project stands as a testament to BHA’s expertise in delivering enduring, high-performance beachfront homes where innovation meets refined coastal living.
