This project describes a thoughtful renovation of a Pettit and Sevitt home, successfully bridging the gap between the old and the new while emphasizing both aesthetic and functional elements. The design features include the integration of balusters that are cast into a concrete footing and the use of timber battens that are equally spaced, providing visual consistency throughout the space. Timber sliding doors and joinery are aligned with window sills, enhancing the cohesive aesthetic of the interiors. For the kitchen and bathrooms, detailed tiles are chosen, specifically the Viuge System glass mosaic, while the entire ground floor is finished with Scala Travertine, a seamless surface treated with anti-slip properties for both safety and style.
Incorporating luxurious elements like an Agape Vieques indoor bathtub adds a modern touch of indulgence, while a circular pool adorned with native plants and glass mosaic tiles enriches the outdoor aesthetic. The architectural design maintains a connection to the original structure, as the new upper level is aligned thoughtfully with historical features, and the integrated landscaping creates a seamless transition between the architecture and the natural environment.
Internally, the vibrant and nostalgic palette preserves the home's integrity, paying homage to its history.
While building this project, it was important to ensure that all materials selected for finishes align with sustainability goals and consider landscaping that complements the local ecosystem to enhance the home's natural integration.
