This stunning renovation of a 1950s double brick home embraces modern living while paying homage to its classic foundation. Nestled on a sloping block of land, the project began with significant excavation to create a serene guest retreat bedroom, enhancing functionality and comfort. To maximize space and connectivity, the rear of the site was carefully levelled, allowing for a seamless integration of the kitchen, dining, and living areas with the backyard, perfect for entertaining or relaxing in nature.
A large concrete slab was expertly poured to establish the top pavilion, which serves as a focal point of the home. The internal pavilion boasts polished concrete floors that reflect contemporary style and durability, while the recycled Western Red Cedar (WRC) ceiling adds warmth and character to the space. The kitchen features an eye-catching extra-large off-form concrete bench, combining practicality with aesthetic appeal. For outdoor enjoyment, the balcony is adorned with elegant silver travertine, offering a luxurious touch and timeless beauty. The exterior of the house is clad in EQUITONE panels, a high-performance fibre cement material known for its strength, reliability, and sustainable design. Made from 100% recycled materials, these panels not only enhance the home’s visual appeal but also reflect a commitment to environmentally conscious building practices.
The middle level features exquisite blackbuck wood floors, adding an elegant touch, complemented by American white oak veneer joinery that showcases fine craftsmanship and enhances the overall aesthetic. The lower level underwent extensive excavation, resulting in a spacious double garage, an inspiring art studio, and a large wine cellar.
To ensure convenience and accessibility, the home is equipped with a lift that smoothly services all three levels, making it easy for residents and guests to navigate the spaces effortlessly.
This renovation beautifully marries the charm of mid-century design with modern enhancements, creating a welcoming and functional space to cherish for years to come.
