About the project
An MBA-Award winning extension of a heritage cottage.
This project is a thoughtful extension of a heritage-listed miner’s cottage, blending the charm of the original dwelling with the sophistication of modern design. The restoration carefully preserves the cottage’s character and historical integrity, while a contemporary addition provides the functionality and comfort required for a multigenerational family, including space for aging parents.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the home features off-form concrete, elegant timber pivot doors, and terrazzo heated floors that create a warm yet refined atmosphere. The project’s seamless integration of heritage and modernity earned it a prestigious Master Builders Australia Award, recognising the exceptional craftsmanship and execution by the BHA team.
